Perhaps if you describe the problem you are having someone can help you with it. The people here have a lot of knowledge and can be extremely helpful.

I purchased an mp3 encoder and I am not really familiar with software, but from I understanding, this was suppose to convert music that I have on my computer which are all in wma format to aac and it does not do so for me.

An mp3 encoder will only convert to mp3, not aac.

I am surprised that nobody responded sooner, perhaps they were put off by the topic.

Why AAC ?... I mean do you absolutely need to use AAC, or is it just because you like this codec better ?

I think what people were put off by is the fact that aac is not mentioned anywhere in any of the documentation for MC.
If you do a google search for wma to aac converter you will find no mention of MC and there are several free solutions.
Maybe I am overly suspicious of people but my first thought was here is someone trying to figure a way to get MC for free.
Does it make sense that someone would buy something that is available as a trial without first testing whether it will perform
the desired action.
