Converting On The Fly And Tagging Issues
« on: March 03, 2011, 07:37:30 am »

Long time iTunes user making the move from Apple Lossless to FLAC due to a lack of compatibility many devices have with ALAC. Im converting using dbPoweramp. I have a couple of questions.

I have a HTC Desire which I want to use as my portable since my iPod has given up the ghost. Can J River sync with this device but convert on the fly to .mp3 when transferring the files the way iTunes does? I don't want to have to maintain a library of .flac and .mp3.

When converting my Apple Lossless files to Flac all the tags show up ok bar disc no. and album artist. I think that No. Of Discs is only available to Media Centre? Is the fact that all my Apple files are '1 of 1', '2 of 3' etc the reason it can't display just disc no.? Why would Album Artist not show up? Or is this just a problem with how iTunes has tagged things?

Cheers.
