Gaps while playing music
« on: March 06, 2011, 05:58:29 pm »

Hi :)

I usually listen to music while I'm playing some video games... when something loads in the game and it "freezes" for a small part of a second, the music also stops. This is different to my experiences with Winamp, which I used before JRiverMC. It just continued the playback, even when computer was fully "frozen"... (so when I couldn't do anything like moving the mouse or using the keyboard).

I think it has something to do with buffering or... well, I don't know, but thats why I ask you :D

I hope you know what I'm talking about  :P

Thanks in advance...

I'm going to assume you're using Direct Sound over the Primary Sound Driver (the same sound card you're using for gaming sounds)

In MC go to:
Tools >> Options >> Audio >> Audio Output

Set the Output Mode to Direct Sound
Now open "Output mode settings..."
There will be a slider control to adjust the buffering
The default is "0.50 seconds"
Increase the buffering to around 1 second and see if that helps
If that doesn't help enough then try 2 seconds or more

I'm using WASAPI, but it helped anyways...

I don't know why I didn't just adjust the settings...

Well thanks!
