Chromium hardware acceleration no good
« on: March 08, 2011, 12:05:25 pm »

My MC PC is an ION based system - low power, quiet, and great video... if your player uses hardware acceleration.  Unfortunately, MC16 with the Chromium engine does not cut it.  Either Chromium does not use hardware acceleration or they don't do it very well.  With the latest MC release full screen 720p is so gerky that it is un-watchable.  I have tried everything that I can think of to improve it but it just does not work very well.

This is very frustrating turn of events because with IE9 and Flash 10.2 I had finally gotten all video working smoothly.  I am even able to watch Hulu content full screen at 720p without a problem.  Then along came that IE9 RC bug.

I have to say that the Chromium engine is not a viable replacement for me.  I really hope that MS resolves the bug in IE9 and that you give us a choice as to which engine we wish to use when we install MC.

I am back on track.  With the 47 release and IE 9 RC full screen 720p video is rendering smoothly.
