« on: March 15, 2011, 09:09:39 am »

I tested IE9 Final with MC15 and MC16 and everything works normally. There is no crash ;-))

That's good to hear! I have it running on my machine here at work. Sidebar.exe was running away with memory on the RC but seems stable now. Keeping my fingers crossed that MC works fine too.  ;D

Good to hear on MC15, I didn't like the idea of being forced to update.

Good to hear on MC15, I didn't like the idea of being forced to update.

I don't know that J River intended to do that.  If IE9 final came out with the bug that caused the problem still intact, I suspect we would have seen a MC15 build appear that would have included the new Chromium engine.  There wasn't much point in doing this ahead of time since the problem was just with a beta build of IE9, and it was at-least fairly likely that Microsoft would fix the issue in the end.

As it is, Microsoft fixed the issue so crisis averted.

I've expressed concern on other topics about the incompatibility with IE9-RC. I'm happy to say that the RTM version seems to work with MC15.0.174! :)

I also expressed disappointment with being forced to upgrade to MC16 while it is still in early beta. So far, the final release of IE9 and MC15 are coexisting peacefully, though it will take time to work through all the MC15 functions to see if it is entirely stable.

You should be OK. The bug Microsoft introduced in IE9 RC appears to be fixed in the final version of IE9.

Just remember this was caused by a Microsoft bug, not a MC issue. It was nice that JRiver worked around the Microsoft issue in MC16 but we can expect them to open up all past versions and re architect them to work around the Microsoft bug.
