MC "Hangs" with Non-Modal Dialog - Known Problem?
« on: March 15, 2011, 11:04:59 am »

When performing a task that is taking a long time to complete, such as importing tags for over 8000 files, a status dialog is not modal to the main window but is on the same thread.

During this time, if one clicks on the main MC window, the status dialog disappears and the MC becomes non-responsive.  At this point, there is no way to cancel the task.  One has to wait until it completes or kill the process.  Making the status dialog modal to the main window would solve this problem.  Putting the long running task in a separate thread would be even better although it is not needed for this function.

When analyzing audio for a large number of files, the Analyze Audio dialog can take a very very long time to appear while MC is scanning all the files.  There is no way to cancel this.  A modal status box would help too in this case.

It would be even better if MC keeps a list of files that have been audio analyzed and bypasses the checking for analyzed files altogether.  A new refresh button on the Analyze Audio dialog can then be used to force re-reading of the Replay Gain status.

Is this a known problem?
