On my PC hard drive, All my audio files are labeled the same, in their respective folders:

01 The Beatles - Hard Day's Night
02 The Beatles - Love Me Do
Etc.

On some albums, MC15 has the track # as part of the artist's name, others not.
Of course, I don't want the track # part of the artist's name.
What am I doing wrong?

I'm still confused.

Aren't the two digit numbers, which were automatically inserted in the rip, necessary to play the tracks in the correct sequence?

I can delete the 01, etc., in MC 15's tag editor, but why do the two digit numbers even show as part of the Artist's name, for some of the albums?
In Windows explorer the directory structure looks exactly the same for the correct and incorrect files.
Can there be a "hidden tag" somewhere?

Can you show a screenshot of MC of the album that you perceive has incorrect data?  Let's ignore what you see in the file system (i.e. through Windows Explorer).  I think I mention in post 4 in the other thread that there are three (3) distinct, separate concepts: MCs info in its database, the audio file's tags, the file system name of the audio tracks.

What exactly do you want a screenshot of ?

First make sure the tags for that album are correct.  Correct track numbers for each track, correct artist name, correct album name.

Then go to Tools >> Library Tools >> Rename Move & Copy Files...


The Rename Move & Copy Files dialog will allow you to change the file names on the hard drive.  You can also change the directory path all based on the file tags.  Be sure to check the preview window to make sure the new names are as you expect before clicking OK to complete the operation.

As for why you have some files named that way.  Would depend on what was used to rip the CD or where the files came from.  Some ripping programs will name files that way.  If you don't rename the files when importing to MC the file names will stay as they were.

Use Imageshack or some other similar image hosting service.  Then link to the hosted image.

I believe only the MC beta team folks and other special members have the ability to attach images to a post.  I don't see an option to upload and attach an image to a post.  I'm just a nobody.

Ok, so your track names have the track # included, and your tags also have the tag number.

Select all the tracks.  Right click, and select Library Tools->Fill Properties from Filename.  Check the Filename checkbox, and enter: [Track #] [Name].  This will fill in the tags based upon the template [Track #] followed by the track name [Name].

Then, you can rename the files as you see fit (if necessary).  Right click the tracks again, and select Library Tools->Rename, Move & Copy files.  Set the file name to the template you desire.

I think normally if a field is blank (Artist In This Case) mc may read the artist name before the first "-"
