Iphone/IPod Streaming Music
« on: April 21, 2011, 09:02:09 am »

JRiver,

Is there a phone application to stream music from my desktop computer to my Iphone and IPod?
If so, does it work both LAN and WAN?

Alternative -  If there is a way to do this through Webplay, please provide detailed step by step to do this.  Wiki does not give enough information.

Thanks
Rick

WebPlay is the right application.  This article explains more:

The section on accessing your network from anywhere on the Internet should help.

I am new to jriver and only am looking at it for a way to stream my music at home to my iPhone when I am not on my home netwrork. I am having issues with getting this to work on my pc. I loaded the media center and have some music in there to test it with. In the app store it said to turn on a few things in options to get it to work which I did, but I still don't know how to associate this on my phone. Can anyone offer some help?

Look at this page:  http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/WebGizmo.  it will tell you how to set it up for MC 17 (make sure you have media center 17).  As for your iphone, in the browser enter the ip address of your media machine followed by the port number you opened on your firewall/router.  To find the IP address of your server go to the machine where you are running mc and run a program like http://whatismyipaddress.com/ to find out your ip address.  So on your iphone browser address bar you'll enter something like 24.18.210.68:52199 where the : separates the ip address from the port number.  you'll get a web page back from your media machine to your iphone browser and you can take it from there.

By default iTunes won't be set to synchronise your music with the iPhone. In iTunes select the iPhone via the menu on the left (if it isn't already) and then click the Music tab at the top of the main window. Then set it to synchronise (either all or just the folders you choose). Then when you click Phone Transfer it should copy the music across.

Hope that helps.
