any suggestions other than reinstalling?

your wiki  steps....
1. Please update your player to the latest build available. If a newer version has been released, please try it. For example, if you're using MC14, but MC15 has been released, please try it. The latest known stable build is always on the download page, but a newer version may be found on the forum.

2. Disable plug-ins and other third party software that you use with MC. We have had problems with bugs in plug-ins causing problems in the past. The Audioscrobbler plug-in, for example, would crash MC if you weren't logged into last.fm.

3. Problems with Virus Checkers, Pop-up Blockers, and SPAM programs are not uncommon. Please disable these to test.

The full version will be MC16.0.something.  16.0.75 is at the top of the MC16 board.

for the record.. earlier today i uninstalled nero. and it crashed while analyizing after the reboot.... so i read more and then disabled norton, updated mc... to the latest version, unchecked auto import...and since then ive had no problems. it is currently analyzing. on 1000 out of 2500.  i will stop the analyze now and turn on norton to see if it crashes. and ill follow up with a post.

If you're getting a blue screen, that is probably bad hardware or drivers.

Thanks for your help with our issue. It is resolved. We pulled a failing memory card out. and it seems to be working correctly. The crash happened only when running the analyze and import. i appreciate the time and advice.j
