Access key
« on: April 10, 2011, 10:13:20 am »

OK I've generated an access key on my main computer, but cannot figure out where to enter it in MC16 on my netbook. The wiki refers to MC15. Any help would be appreciated by this newbe.

In the tree, pick Playing Now > Playing from [name of library]

Click the 'Add Library...' button and enter the access key.

Been trying to customize the view on the client. The settings  on the client PC do not stick - is the behaviour normal?

Thanks for your reply Matt.

So it is not possible for the client to have its own 'view customization'settings?

I note: "Options changes (each client maintains its own options)" but I've attempted to resize column widths, removed columns, etc. in order to fit a netbook display (1024x600), but these particular settings do not stick. There is no way around this?

The views are stored in the media library. Each library contains the library specific views. When a client connects the server it downloads a copy of the currently loaded server library including the views.

Perhaps you could create a couple of new tweaked views on the server.

Hi

That's like trying to fit 1024x600 resolution into 1920x1200 on my desktop PC. I would be nice if the columns could be rearranged independently.

I agree that it would be nice, but it isn't currently possible. Even if it would be possible, there would be a problem with attaching the stored "client views" to the server library if the "server views" have changed significantly. For example, a configured client view may have been removed from the server library the next time the server library is loaded.

I meant, that as a workaround, you could resize the MC window approximately to 1024 x 600 on the server and then add your preconfigured views. In the attached screenshot the MC window is exactly 1024 x 600 and I have added a new root view, "Netbook", that contains a simple drop-down panes configuration for low resolution displays.
