Startup freeze
« on: May 01, 2011, 06:27:08 am »

Hi.
I have used Media Center for some years with pleasure. I do find a startup delay/freeze quite anoying now.
Basics:
Quad Core powerfull desktop computer, lots of memory etc. Windows 7 64bit, Gigabit network. Media (only audio) placed on external server, aprox 5000 songs, most FLAC format.

Everytime I start Media Center it works fine for maybe 15 seconds, you can start a song or look through the library, after this the user interface of Media Center freezes for about 20-30 seconds. Afterwards it works fine again.

Hopefully there is some soulution to this as it is anoying to have to wait if you want to hear a song.
Regards

Welcome to the forum.  You can use MC's logging to find out what is delaying it.  Turn it on under the Help menu.

A drive that isn't available, or is spinning up could cause this.

Hi!
Thanks for the input. I set up the log and found that the freezing was caused by a setting under "drives and devices", I had set it for my mobile phone (Nokia N86) a long time ago. I disabled the device and now the problem is solved.
Thanks a lot for the help.
