Where Do You Source Your Music & Video Media?
« on: April 30, 2011, 01:46:54 pm »

Any recommendations appreciated including legit sources, torrent trackers, P2P, etc. Any alternatives to Amazon and iTunes as I'd like straight, high quality MP3 or Flac music in particular without any restrictions having ended up with about 750 CD's that I'm now having to transfer to PC, plus a HD full of Amazon and iTunes files that aren't compatible with all devices and often need converting.

Any thoughts, recommendations would be great.

Thanks
Ian

You say "including legit sources" seems to imply you are looking primarily for illegitimate sources.  You'll not find help here.

Otherwise, Google is your friend:

Thanks JudgeC for your mis-interpretation. Not a pop at you but that's why I avoid forums where possible, because peoples beliefs get a little heavy-handed and it car crashes your forum thread = wasted time!

OK, the question is there in black and white. I've basically had enough of the wacky formats used by Amazon and iTunes. I aint buying any more audio files in their formats.

With regards Torrents and the RapidShare type sites, I'm open about this, I've been using them for about 12 months having previously bought bucket-loads of CD's and downloads - still do buy them. But I'd like to find more P2P, etc, for sure. The more connections the better for everyone.

With regards torrents, Its my belief that they are a huge positive and open-up genres of music to people who would have never found them. My stash has grown massively and I now have access to music I otherwise wouldn't have known about, been able to afford and never experienced. Tell me that's a bad thing?

Hey, Exactly What Tim Burners-Lee wanted when he created the net.

Thanks to anyone who responded to the actual question!

Please anyone else, your recommendations would be appreciated.
