unable to rip suddenly

I was ripping some CD's with no problem when I got this error
  Open drive failed . Parameter is out of range
At first I thought it was the individual CD but now each Cd I have tried gets this error.
Nothing was changed to my knowledge so I am confused by this
Does anyone have some advise?

Try power-cycling the computer. It's possible the drive is confused.
