OFF Topic: To British Folks - Happy Golden Jubilee
« on: June 03, 2002, 04:53:45 am »

I was in London for a quick "one day" ride yesterday and noticed that
the big topics were 50/50 in between the Football (soccer) world cup
and the Queen's Jubilee.
I also learned that for most of british people to day is a holiday.
So...
Have a nice Golden Jubilee Holiday
and good luck in the world cup Next Page

Thankyou. Considering the Royals have had such bad press for the past few years, it was refreshing to see from a poll last week that 80% would vote to keep the Royal Family. Personally, I could'nt imagine this country without them. Could you imagine Blair as 'pseudo-King'? or Thatcher as 'pseudo-Queen'? Not a pleasant thought !!

As for the footie, they're gonna need an awful lot of luck judging by the way they played yesterday.

Thanks for the good wishes and I'm sure we'll all enjoy a coupla days off

Did anyone see the concert from Buck Palace last night? Absolutley fantasmagorical !!! Apart from the quality of the musicians, the technical and mixing side was fantastic. Just to cap it off, 3 tons of fireworks!! Super stuff, I can't wait for the next one !!

Have a nice day everyone - Jim

ps don't bother looking 'fantasmagorical' up in the dictionary - I just invented it.

Hi

This Morning, Tuesday, is the last day of the official holiday in the UK.

Loads of cerimonials, processions and a service in St Pauls.
This afternoon, more celibrations with carnival processions etc.

The TV is saturated with it over here all day. Interesting to know how much of it makes it to your screens in the US....

Yep,
I watched the Jubilee concert live yesterday night on one
of the sat channels. It was great, sound was very nice indeed, many great artists
but man, we really miss Freddie (Mercury) !

According to the Harrap's french/english Dic on my desk
the french word "fantasmagorique" maps to the english "phantasmagorical" Next Page
