Customized library view lost at SW update
« on: May 10, 2011, 03:07:51 am »

I have made own (photo) library views. The customized library views are lost at SW update.
Why that happens?
I'm using DLNA media server to share libraries.

Thanks for the support!

Do you mean some external DLNA server or MC16 server? Are you also connecting to an MC16 Library Server? If the MC16 client loads the MC16 server library then you should make the view changes on the server instance.

What do you mean by SW update? Installing a new MC16 build?

External DLNA server (D-LINK DNS-320).

No.

I had already MC16 (trial) installed and updated to the latest build.

Are you refering to TheaterView??

Quote from last update....

"Warning: Theater View Customization will be reset:
11. Changed: New stock views for Theater View (requires one time over-write of user customization).
More details on why this happened are here."

To be honest, I do not remember did I create the custom view in the Standard View or Theater View. But it was visible in Theater View anyway. If you create a library view in the Standard View, is it shown in the Theater View also by default? If not, then I have created it in Theater View. I'm sorry, I have used JRiver MC just for a short time right now and I'm not so familiar to even some basics.

My DLNA views disappeared with the .81 software update.  I had assumed only the Theater View views would disappear, I do not use Theater View at all.

This happened to me as well.  Slightly disappointing, considering that I fully read the notice on Theater View updates.

DLNA views will be reset with the upgrade to 81.

It was an oversight that we did not mention this in the warning.  I apologize.

In general, you would get more available features and better functionality if you simply import the files to MC's regular library instead of using the more or less crippled DLNA protocol.

You can use the built-in server (probably Samba) on your device to create standard Windows network shares.

The fact that DLNA custom views were reset, does this also explain why all my WebRemote views got zapped as well? :-((((

I was trying out MC16 on my server (been on MC15 for sometime) and use DLNA and WebRemote as I have other devices and zones in the house that are not PC's that run MC.

Looks like I'll need to set aside a little more time to try out MC16 before flipping the switch
