How to adjust RO Settings?
« on: June 11, 2011, 08:17:59 pm »

I realize that the whole purpose of RO is to create an environment where things just work.

However, working on a computer that relies entirely on RO, I'm discovering a few issues--notably, there doesn't appear to be any way to tweak the settings being used.

The concrete example I have is when dealing with subtitles. RO is cutting them off at the bottom of the screen.

I assume I can adjust the positioning with the ffdshow subtitle filter, but I can't discover any way to access it. The configuration dialogs that used to be accessible through the right-click menu are either greyed out or non-functional.

Any thoughts on:
1) How to address the immediate issue of bringing up those dialogs?
2) Long-term tweakability?

Our goal is to make Red October just work for most people, but let others do whatever they want.  If you're in the latter camp, you should turn Red October off.

If you choose "Advanced > Red October with additional filters" you can then select ffdshow as the video renderer and make your own settings to it. Red October will use its own splitter, audio decoder and renderer, but will then use your choice of video renderer. You do need to make sure you have your own copy off ffdhow loaded.
