It doesn't work for me, in so far as...

If I turn it off I get unspecified errors for all video files.
Since installing the 1st RO update MC crashes when I start TV, unless it's the first thing I play.

I do use XP.

That said, having it on is working for all other video file types.

Hope that helps.

I use XP and dvd playback does not work. Other video formats seem to be ok.

Yepp, same here. XP, nonmc. With RO on, I cannot play DVD's, but other formats are OK. With RO off everything is fine, as before it seems. This applies to 99, but not 97.

I'm on XP and video ONLY works with Red October. With Red October turned off, it looks like all video types are giving me unspecified directshow errors. All videos played back properly before. Everything still plays back correctly with WMP.

On XP, to play a DVD, you need a third-party DVD video decoder, like PowerDVD.

What video decoder were you using before Red October in this case?

Thanks.

Using NVidia PureVideo decoders.

I am running XP and none of the versions including 100 work with
mpg video files. With RO on I just get the perpetual opening.... window.
With RO off I get direct show unspecified error.

Only way I could get video to work was to use windows media
video engine.
I had to rollback computer to get reinstalled MC version 86 to work.

Nope, Win7 all the way. Every build after .87 will not play videos for me at all.

Unfortunately, I had to reinstall my HTPC (win7 X86) after play-around with the RO.
any version after .86 giving me unspecified errors for all video files.

The only solution for now is version .86/.87

what a disappointment.

baba,
Subscribe to "Stable", not "Latest" if you demand stable.  Tools/Options/Startup/Update Channels.  That will give you the build from the download page.
