I have a mono switch on my receiver that I use a lot--is there an equivalent in MC? I tried using 1 channel (mono) as source # of channels in Output Format, but sound only comes out of the left channel.

That was the default setting... but I tried all the combinations of Source number of channels and Mixing, and the only thing that worked was that if I set source # of channels to 1, it outputs mono through the left channel. Is there a way to get that through both speakers? I read the thread that you linked to, but that was mostly about mono source files (I'm happy that they play in dual mono) rather than getting mono out of a stereo source.

I'm not sure if this will work for you or not. Here's a free VST plugin that gives you pan controls for left and right channels. Just point 'em both to center and that should hopefully give you what you're looking for.

You might try the channel mixing / volume filters built into DSP Studio > Parametric Equalizer.

First, pick 2.0 output.

Then with the Parametric Equalizer:
1) Add left and right together into the left channel
2) Apply a -6 dB cut to the left channel (to avoid clipping)
3) Copy the left channel to the right channel

Might be handy to have a 1.0 output in JRSS that does exactly this.

I use mono output every so often when I set up simple sound systems with a single powered speaker.

I really need to figure this out as I only have one ear that works, totally deaf on right side.
I am going to be fiddling with this a lot hopefully I can make it work.

you have no idea how frustrating it is to miss half of the music with reg headphones, I have tried lots of various hardware to try to mix stereo to duel mono.
