Coding on an 11.6" screen.
« on: June 27, 2011, 01:16:59 pm »

Hey all,

I'm looking an HP dm1z 11.6" Net/Notebook (http://www.shopping.hp.com/series/category/notebooks/dm1z_series/3/computer_store?jumpid=in_r329_personalization/browse1/home_SDP), and I was wondering if anybody has experience developing on these?  I like to code in my lazy boy (coz I'm a super huge nerd i.e. I also have a can of coke and a bag of chips near by), and these dm1z's seem like great little laptops, however, I'm not sure about the screen size.  I'm still young, so I got my eyesight, but I'm just wondering if I'll still be straining my eyes too much.

Any experience/input fellow coders?

hahaha ... it's just the review on anandtech was really good, and i can get by with a 13.3" if im just sitting in my lazy boy for a while, so maybe an 11.6" would be passable, plus i always like to support AMD when i can justify it.  anyways, one vote in, any others?

Lol at work I'm on twin 23" screens.
I wouldn't want to code on something that small!

Sure, go for it.  When I was 15, I was coding on my Commodore 64 with a 12" screen and it was fine.  ;D

I love my Acer that has an 11.6" screen, but I do sometimes find it a bit small. If I were to buy a laptop again I would probably hit a 13"...
