Trying To Play A File From Client Launches The Web Browser
« on: June 29, 2011, 10:33:16 am »

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=62632.0

Same issue with a trial version of MC 16.

When connected to a server, a double click to a an .mp3 or .avi file launches the Web Browser (either explorer or FF) to the following address "http://192.168.1.13:52199/MCWS/v1/File/GetFile?File=331116", and nothing is played.

Any idea? ?

Double-check your settings in Options > File Types.

Make sure you have everything set to 'Automatic', because it almost sounds like we're being told to explicitly play the file as if it were a data file.

Thanks Matt,

I've doubled-checked it and every file type is set to the Authomatic Playback Mode either in the client and the server... :(

Please make sure both sides are current (16.0.121)?

If the problem persists, could you email a log showing a play on the client to matt at jriver dot com?

Thanks.

I have not received a log from you.

Could you try putting it in an archive (RAR, 7z, etc.) and try sending it again?

Thanks.

I got the logs.

However, neither log shows any attempt to play a file inside Media Center.  The log should contain text like "CPlayerZone::Play".

Matt, now I realize that the issue only occurs in the a library view when I doubleclick a track or when I select "play" in the right click menu. If the track is in the Playing Now section, or if I select any of the "add" options of the right click menu in a library view, the playback works perfectly well. Could it have something to do with the library view configuration? ?

OK, I found it.

Edit: It happens in the tracks where the field "Media Type" is empty.

For some reason the library seems to be corrupted and "Update Library (from tags)" in the Server seems to fix it. As the problem only occurred from the client side, it was difficult to identify.

That definitely made me go through it. ;)

PS: Which could be the reason why some media types where not recognised and showed an empty "Media Type" field?

Any file that MC can't open and read.  Missing DirectShow filters, for example, could cause this.
