Playing media two different ways

I want to play my videos using Spdif but my husband wants his music played using DSP 5.1 is there a way to do this?

Can you set up 2 Zones. I do this on my MC setup. One Zone uses Spdif of my onboard sound to my reciever and other Zone uses the analog out from my onboard sound to my reciever. Switch the Zone, and the input on the reciever and you switch the playback device.
