Media Jukebox 8.0.286 RC
« on: May 29, 2002, 09:45:01 am »

Media Jukebox 8.0.286 RC is available:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaJukebox8.exe

Please make sure you reboot your PC if you prompted to do that by InstallWizard.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Old style Media Jukebox 8.0 licenses (MediaJukebox8.rrg) will not work with this build.  They can be exchanged for a new one by providing your e-mail receipt (should have come from "buy-button @ jriver.com" ).  FORWARD TO music @ jriver.com.  Version 7 licenses CANNOT BE UPGRADED but will work with version 8.0.

Please back up your library and your license (version 7 licenses only; version 8 licenses can be restored from our web page -- see the FAQ for more info).

History:
1. Fixed: Media Jukebox would interlace the L, R data it sent to the visualizations.
2. Fixed: Disk writer could give erroneous disk space warnings.
3. Fixed: Library Manager would not show a check for the current library.
4. Fixed: MEGA-ME skinning was inverting solid fill colors.
5. NEW: CD Labeler allows entering a printer offset to move the image on the paper.
6. Fixed: MEGA-ME skinning would not paint caption area when MJ was inactive.
7. Fixed: Media Jukebox would not allow the selection of network databases.
8. Fixed: Media Jukebox would allow the creation of multiple databases with the same path.
9. Fixed: Media Jukebox would not check the failure count when switching tracks. (could cause an endless loop)

Bug:
1. On the Start page, under the New to MJ? topic, if you click on Rip a CD MJ cannot find the help topic (in Help).  Same error if you try Help > How to > Copy (Rip) a CD...

That did it!  You can add me to the "Media Jukebox Disciples" list...  :-P
I posted a note on Tuesday asking how to tweak the CD Label alignments, and on Thursday morning the newest build had added that as a new feature!  I have officially run out of reasons NOT to buy your software (and I was being really dang picky).  I agree with the other thread - this definitely has the quality of a release product.
Thanks JRiver!!

OK, Matt.  You're on our Disciples List now.  Thanks.

Z, the page was updated.  Can you try it again?  Thanks for the report.

JimH,

The Start page is fixed, but (of course) the MJ Help > How To > Copy (Rip) a CD... is not (w/o a new software release).

MJ 8.0.285 RC
15. Fixed: Media Jukebox could crash when switching tracks -- especially on slow machines / connections.

Confirmed fixed! Thanks for tracking this one down!

Disk Writer works like a champ now, Thanks!

286 is ready for GA/FCS as far as I'm concerned.
Great Job!

GA = General Availability?
FCS = First Customer Ship?

Seem to have lost the ability to read CD-Text.  Removed from CD & DVD Media - still does not read.  Text is on disk, confirmed with Toshiba DVD player with CD-Text ability.  Wrote the CD using DAO, Plextor PX-W8220T and Nero 5.5.

JimH -
FYI the player problem has disappeared.  Yahoo!

Irritating bug.  Changing tracks pops the sound, buffer problem?  My settings:
Between = 2s
Seek = Smooth
Stop = Fade(fast)
If I stop play I can hear the fadeout, but if I click next or previous there is an artifact from the current track and play begins almost immediately.

Otherwise, go for RC.
