MC 16.0.128 and SACD rips
« on: July 15, 2011, 10:55:29 am »

As of late I've been grabbing some SACD > 5.1 flac files that have been converted using the SACD Ripper/PS3 method. Every other file/format I have plays without issue but these. Older files from the same source that were converted using the analog method play fine. The PS3 files play fine through foobar. I'm using WASAPI Event Mode in MC. Using latest build of MC 16.0.128.

Here's my setup: MC, Gigabyte Radeon HD GPA Sound Card with HDMI, Onkyo HT-RC180.

What is the file extension?  Support for these was recently added, but the extension might matter.

So it is supposed to be a regular 5.1 FLAC file. In that case the used SACD ripping process method is quite irrelevant. We would need to investigate how the FLAC file differs from other 5.1 FLAC files that work.

What is the sample rate and bit depth? What is the actual problem? Can MC import the file? Can MC play the file? Is the output incorrect somehow? Does MC show an error message?

Can you, for example, play this sample file: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XGRMKGPW ?  (FLAC, 5.1, 24-bit, 96 kHz, 6.4 seconds, 6.6 MB)

SOLVED. I switched the Audio from WASAPI Event to Direct and it is working now. I'll have to do some regression testing on the other file formats, as I vaguely recall that I chose WASAPI because some other format wasn't decoding.
