Dear Sirs,

I am a newbie, could you please help me with MC16?

I can not playback DVDs (disc ou Rips to hard drive), Mpgs, or Divx files. These files work perfect with other apps like Windows Media Player. Wmv files works perfectly on MC16.

The failure message that comes up says the following:
"Media Center encountered errors while trying to play the last several files. Please
make sure that the path in your media library points to the right location."
(no more error details).

Red October Standard video mode, Win7-64.

As a matter of interest, are the paths to your files using a mapped drive (x:, g: etc) or are you using UNC paths (\\servername\path)?

I'm using a mapped drive. For example, my DVD drive:

J:\VIDEO_TS

I don´t have this problem with my audio files in MC16:

D:\Name\Músicas\!MAIN\Soundtracks

OK, not what I thought it might be then.

Best thing woud be to go to Help/logging and make sure logging is enabled, tick to log "General & playback", clear the current log, then try to play a DVD again.

When you get the error, go back into logging and display the current log, copy it and paste it here... might give us a clue as to what isn't working without you having to try lots of different things.

I'd suggest trying the latest version at the top of this board as a number of things have been fixec/changed since .128. If that doesn't work then hopefully Matt might have an idea.

Options > File Types > (Video) DVD Video (ifo, vob)

Automatic = error message (*)
JRiver video engine (using DirectShow filters) = error message (*)
RealPlayer Engine = crash MC16
Quicktime engine = error message (*)
Windows Media Player engine = WORKS
External Program (default) = WORKS (open VLC)

(*) "Playback Problem  Something went wrong with playback.

It is sad that, for me, a wonderful program like JRiver does not plays DVDs without Windows Media Player engine or a external program. I hope that you can fix it soon.

Richard doesn't work for JRiver.  He's just being helpful.

I do.

The problem may be that the components needed aren't being downloaded.  Security software on your PC is a possible reason.

So try using Red October Standard only.  Don't try anything else until that works.

Uninstall, reboot, and reinstall as administrator (right click on the downloaded exe).
