OK so I've realised something has been going on but cannot determine what it is...

I've read (and posted) other threads about netflix stuttering, but have thought it may just be bandwidth related. Not so, it seems...

If I watch video content in my standard browser, it works fine. Even full HD. Example bloomberg.com/tv, netflix, hulu. If I watch youtube content via my browser, fine. via theater view (when it's working) no problems.

HOWEVER... If I watch youtube via the browser in MC it drops frames, similarly bloomberg tv, similarly netflix and hulu (both through the browser and through theater view).

System is atom / ion based with 4gb RAM, so not high spec, but as I say all content works fine through standalone browser...

Is it simply case of my system not liking video on top of browser on top of MC or is there something more possibly going on?

PS this is happening with both ie and chromium engines.

Ion now has hardware acceleration for flash video. My guess is that in MC it's using RO for these videos, which is relying on CPU only.

Try disabling transparency in the OSD / player bar:
Options > General > Advanced > Popup transparency mode

Transparent overlays require more processing.  I've seen a few systems where it's just too much for them, which is why we've added the option.

I wish we could detect things like this automatically, but it's pretty tricky when playback is happening in a silverlight control in a browser.

No worries. As I say, I'm aware it's a fairly low spec system, so these things are to be expected.
