MC won't play all audio files
« on: August 13, 2011, 04:07:32 pm »

I've come across another weird situation.  MediaCenter 16 will not play all my audio files.  It appears as thought they are playing, the progress bar moves, stats change, etc, but no sound comes out.  These are all files that used to play.  I do not remember the last build they worked on, but I've tried every build I have and have had the same result.  The files are not damaged, because they play in other players, such as AIMP2.  I just now noticed this issue.

All of my audio files were encoded the same way, using the same program and the same settings.  The vast majority of them play just fine.

Below is a link to one such song, although there are other, that I uploaded to my private storage.  I hope this'll help determine what's wrong

Everything seems to be okay in that respect.  Again, some files play and others don't.  So if there was a mute related problem then I wouldn't hear anything at all right?

What kind of files are they?  MP3?  Flac?

What's different about the ones that play and the ones that don't?

All my files are mp3pro 80kbs.  And, as far as I can tell, there's nothing different about the files that play and the ones that don't.  The files that don't play know used to before.

I downloaded and tried your file, got this error. Maybe not related, but I could not play it either. I didn't change my settings to try.

If they're a low sample rate, try forcing a sample rate (start with 44.1) in DSP Studio > Output Format.

Thank you for the suggestion, but that did not work.  I did notice that every song that would not play have no "intensity" value.   Now, I analyze all my tracks so there should be a value there.  I was able to get those tracks to play again by re-analyzing them.  I have no idea why that works, or what causes the value to be stripped in the first place.   I've created a smartlist that shows me any audio file with an empty intensity value.  I'm reanalyzing them all now (about 230).  Any idea how this could have happened?  Thanks.
