Please make sure you reboot your PC if you prompted to do that by InstallWizard.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Old style Media Jukebox 8.0 licenses (MediaJukebox8.rrg) will not work with this build.  They can be exchanged for a new one by providing your e-mail receipt (should have come from "buy-button @ jriver.com" ).  FORWARD TO music @ jriver.com.  Version 7 licenses CANNOT BE UPGRADED but will work with version 8.0.

Please back up your library and your license (version 7 licenses only; version 8 licenses can be restored from our web page -- see the FAQ for more info).

History:
1. Fixed: MJ would not start recording when started from Media Scheduler.
2. Changed: Logic for CD disk naming have been improved.
3. Fixed: In Skin Manager, with skinning off MJ would not display selected item correctly.
4. Fixed: Starting MJ minimized with minimize option on would incorrectly paint main MJ window.
5. Fixed: If library was switched while connected to server MJ would corrupt the file names in the library.

Hi

WIth about 7 seconds of a (final or single)track remaining the track will show as stopped, the trackinfo page will display an error.

"MediaJukeboxe cannot display visualisations for this filetype etc...."

Presumably this because the last part of the track is buffered? This is not a problem when there is another track following next.

My option settings are:

Between Tracks: Crossfade (aggressive)
Duration: 0.3s
Seeking: Smooth (fast)
Stop: Fadeout (fast)

Is it possible to protect from error status the visualisation for the final 5 - 10 secs ?

Not fixed:

-Media Server doesn't serve files with iso-latin characters (éàè...) in the path (including filename) => unusable but for english artist songs.

-Media Server doesn't start sharing automatically even if the related option is checked.

Hi,

When I add tracks to a burn screen, one horiz line is missing and the screen shakes.

...follow-up to above post...

MJ locks-up in that situation.  Other bit of info,
after adding the tracks, the total was >80min.

This problem existed in previous version.  I posted it.

When tried to burn ape tracks,
got a Runtime error on the third
track.

Things are going downhill folks,
at least in the way I use MJ.

...another followup to a burning crash.

Was burning ape files.  Checked all files with MAC,
one was bad.  Apparently the burn failed in the
decoding phase, with following error:

R6025 - pure virtual function call.

I get the same error, trying to convert the file.

Durgame,
I suggest you start a new thread on your problems.  I cannot duplicate them.  Could be an APE version mismatch somewhere.

Been playing around with some different formats, APE and mp3 VBR. I've noticed with APE that if manually changing tracks MJ tends to buffer quite a bit before playback. Making smooth transitions kind of rough between tracks. Just a thought here, because of my system ( old PII ) would that have any bearing on this? MJ seems to handle the VBR mp3's without this happening. Or could there be a possibility that ram is getting used up a little faster with these larger files? Therefore causing some of the buffering I'm seeing.

It really isn't a problem, just curious as to what may cause this.

Sorry - Was typing away before your last post.

Machinehead,
APE files are much bigger, so your system speed may be more noticeable.  Just a guess.

after doing a digital secure rip, the ripping quality window appears, showing the quality percentage of the rip.
When marking a section where rereads had to be done, the "play section" becomes an option.
When hitting "play section" an error prompt appears saying "Warning. Select files to play"

This worked in previous versions, but don't recall which exact version it worked in last.

In Media File Properties, Tools, Fill Poperties from Filename:

Information from "Upper" folder not read correctly.

e.g. Leonard Cohen - The Future\04 Closing Time.mp3
File has no ID3 tags at all. Selecting Directories "ARTIST - ALBUM" fills in fields: Artist: Leonard, Album: Cohen - The Future

Two more handy options, although probably late in the game to add, would be "Strip underscores" and "Capitalize first characters. Thereby "1337" group release style filenames can be retagged easily.

Also version 8 claims that my license it not a valid one for it.

In my system, since a few builds, the playback time counter is updated rather irregularly: it even stops for a few seconds during which the whole system becomes unresponsive(mostly during the first 15 seconds of a track). I've checked for other concurrent activities, rebooted, and even disabled the antivirus program, but the problem is still present. The playback is regular.
Thanks for help

This problem is present in b282, I'll check 284.
Frequently MJ stops during startup having caused an error in WNASPI32.dll, or in other modules.

when i play all of my files (527 total) and i use the right-click menu on the system tray icon to navigate playing now, clicking on the scroll down arrow starts scrolling the list but it doesn't stop. the only way to get it to stop is to click on the scroll up arrow, but that just jumps to the top of the list. it works ok with fewer files, so it may just be a function of the speed of my system.

oh yeah, and is there a reason for the X10MP3 remote plugin always being automatically installed?

Apart from the startup problems with MJ (I can live with having to start WiMP before starting MJ) 275 is working fine.

284 would not play at all.

284, if MJ is unskinned the menu does not paint until you run the mouse over it, a bug from way back.

BTW.  I have reformatted, reflashed the Bios, reinstalled Windows, and installed the VIA drivers as per AOpen's instructions.

Hey,
I just wanted to say:

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!
U added support for .m2v files!!

THANKS!!!!

Oops - Found a bug.
It's to do with importing .mov files.
MJ Still seems to have a problem with it.
I go to import files, uncheck all the boxes except .mov and click on start.
The import dialog box that normally displays the importing etc doessn't show up.
The Real window to try to find the codec appears and then says cant find it.
MJ is then disabled (as if there's an active window and your not meant to click on the one out of focus).
I presume because supposedly there's meant to be an import window showing but it's not there.
Latest MJ Build!

When a large number of files are scrolled with the mousewheel in the Properties window, the same gridline distoration occurs that we used to see when scrolling the Media Library.

That's all so far! Stability is excellent.

Hi,

1. I rarly get the following message when I press 'pause':
'Internal play buffer error: playing buffer accumulated too much spent data. Please report this error to J River as soon as possible so that it can be fixed.'
It has occured the last few build (but I do not know exactly when it happened the first time).
As I have seen this error has already been reported (by Gatobrit) and the solution was to use wave out instead of directx. I'll try that and hope it'll help, but it should also work with directx output, shouldn't it?

2. The background of symbol bar (the row where 'rip cd', 'burn cd' ... is shown with little icons) is white (instead of grey) - everytime I start mj. When minimizing and maximizing again everything is fine (it is grey as it should). This has not happened the last builds to me. I'm not using any skins.

Hope you can reproduce it and solve these problems.

Bye,
Peradon

I think there may be a possible memory leak somewhere in this build. Actually, the past several builds have done the same thing.

If I leave MJ on for several hours, whether doing something such as file conversions or sitting idle, and close it after said time, it slowly closes in a descending fashion. Not the normal click and instant close. Since I'm not sitting right in front of the machine I cannot pinpiont when this takes place. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Should also point out that MJ is the only program running at this time.

Problem 1
It could be the symptom of a severe problem: has anyone else noticed long system delays (several seconds) when MJ is active? The easiest way to notice the problem is looking at the time counter in the playback window: in my system it usually freezes for about 5 seconds sometime during the first 20 seconds of a track (I play back MP3 tracks from a 4600 tracks library originally ripped with Real Audio). When the counter is holding no activity can be done (for instance clicking on the pause icon). However playback is regular.

I had posted in the b282 thread the following message:

>In my system, since a few builds, the playback time counter is updated rather irregularly: it even stops for a few seconds. I've checked for other concurrent activities, rebooted, and even disabled the antivirus program, but the problem is still present. The playback is regular.

I have now installed build 284 (after deinstalling b282) and rebooted and the problem is getting much worse: the freezing concerns all system activities,  generally lasts about 5 seconds, and happens also if MJ is not playing (empty "Playing now" queue) but is used for other activities such as library maintenance. I've activated the windows system monitor and noticed read operation bursts concurrent to the freezing: no similar bursts appear when MJ is not active. Of course it could depend on my computer, but notice that I've also installed b282 on my wife's pc, with the same results.

Problem 2
I'm also experiencing several MJ crashes (even on startup) in several modules (i.e. VISSTUDIO.DLL, WNASPI32.DLL, GDI.EXE).

Thanks for help
Luigi

Luigi1943,

Yes to problem two. On several occasions after new update or install I get the module errors. Usually a re-boot cures this. Did have errors when first doing file conversions earlier. Re-started MJ and went pretty much without a hitch.

When ripping one CD, CDDB works.
After, when trying to put another cd, It begins the CDDB query and freezes.
I have to close and reopen MJ8 to query once again.
Also had this problem with past releases.

Darwyn> Take the spaces out of your renaming rule. Instead of ARTIST - ALBUM, use ARTIST-ALBUM. MJ interprets the space in your rule as the seperater character instead of the dash if you space is out like that.

Tenho um problema com esta versão, quando ouço musicas que só sai som da coluna esquerda na visualização acusa
como se estivesse a ouvir som das duas, quando na realidade é mentira, quando uso a versão 7 já está correcto a visualização com o som

DON'T REMOVE FROM THIS BUG LIST - I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE.

[removed -- please use the new thread on your problem.  We can't duplicate it so we need to set it up as a separate thread. -- JimH ]

MJ8 is a really great upgrade to MJ7.2 - Thanks loads guys!

I have had a few probs so far though...

The first concerns CDDB, which continues to fail to work, but I think that that might be to do with the firewall I am behind at my school... will look into it.

The others concern plugins. When I downloaded the encoder plugins from the website, and clicked on the MP3 Plugin in the Plugin Manager to see if I could configure it, it crashed the program... I downloaded the plugin for my RIO 600, and it initially worked fine allowing me to see what was on the player, but whenever I run it now it crashes the software - I have not changed the configuration? The RIO is on the whole time.

Lord Flasheart,
Please start new threads on these problems.  They are probably not MJ bugs.

Lord |PLS| Flasheart,

In regards to your Rio 600 problems... SonicBlue does not include XP as a supported Operating System. In my own testing I have had mixed results from PC to PC with getting this to work. Some work OK, others not at all.  I can also duplicate these problems with their software. I will contact them again to try to resolve this, but in the past they have been totally uncooperative.

When a song is about to finish playing the visualization goes and I get
a message saying it only displays on the following formats....

That was happening last release as well.

I am getting lots of popping and buzzing from the sound card at start and stop of music playing - it started around the time you guys were talking about flushing the sound buffers more aggressively, but I hadn't noticed any similar problems before that.  Is there a way I can reduce it?

Lord |PLS| Flasheart,

I just retested on a clean XP with the same info as yours and everything worked fine. I got a response from SonicBlue (amazing) that claims that the Rio600 works fine with XP although reports from users of their software that I have heard would have me think otherwise. If you are still having problems, please confirm that you have Plug-in version 3.0.4 installed and then email me at steve@jriver.com so we can try to troubleshoot this further.

Thanks,
Steve
