In either case, you will receive an MC17 license that works with MC16 or MC17.  

A release is posted in a thread near the top of the Media Center 17 board.  Features are also there.  

We're currently at build 38 on the MC17 Beta board.

Anyone who purchased a license for MC16 or MC17 since October 1 has received an MC17 license.   You can download and install either MC16 or MC17.

Yeah but...

Also - it is very important to note that some folks (like me) won't be touching v17 at all in the early going...I will only commit to an install when it has some definite stability. I hope this doesn't knock me out of the running for a decent upgrade offer.

No.  Sorry.  We have to cut it off somewhere.  The cutoff was October 1, 2011.  For a week or so after MC17 Beta is released, we'll sell it at a discount.

Where do we watch for it? Will MC17 first show up on the MC16 board, or on it's own board?

I hope the initial releases can be installed side-by-side with MC16. First versions are sometimes a bit rough, but I'd love to be able to play around and do some testing asap

You bought on Oct 4.  You have an MC17 license.  You can just install MC17.

I see people were asking about $18.98 dollar price.  Now it shows for $23.98.  Did it go up?
After December 10th, will it be full retail price ($40 or $60 something?)

The retail price for an initial purchase is now is $49.98.
