I need to do this to remedy the wreck of ratings caused by a bug in another media library program. I cannot use "Update tags (from library)" because other fields are out of date.

A way to do it:

1. Create a new library backup file (just a precaution).

2. Disable file tagging in general options. (uncheck: Update tags when file info changes)

2. Copy the Rating field values to a new library field. (Create a new uniquely named user field first and then use the Move/Copy Fields tool.)

3. Update Library (from tags) -- this will import all supported tags from the files and the library will be in sync with the file tags.

4. Enable file tagging in general options.

5. Copy the backed up rating values back to the actual Rating field. (Use the Move/Copy Fields tool.)
