Copy playlist assignments to different track

Hey folks,
Just wondering if anyone has run across this scenario. I am cleaning up my library and deleting some duplicate tracks.When I find an older/lower quality track, I would like to delete, but it may be in one/more playlists. Is there an easy way to transfer those playlist assignments to the newer/higher quality file?
This would make my life easier if anyone can think of a shortcut.
