Install MC on NAS?
« on: September 21, 2011, 09:48:18 am »

Hi,

I did do a search for this and noticed that this wasn't possible in January.  Was wondering if it is possible now?  All my files are on a NAS and I would like to access them through the MC theater view on my new TV - but I don't want to leave my computer running all the time.  I am considering upgrading my NAS and if there is a specific one that is recommended to get this to work then I am open to suggestions.

Thanks.

No, there is no port of MC to Linux so it cannot be installed on a NAS.

But what do you mean by using MC Theater View on your TV?  This implies that you must have a Windows computer running MC and plugged into your TV.  If that's the case, then you can certainly store your files on a NAS.  But you cannot run an MC server on the NAS in order to serve media via DLNA or network shares to the TV's built-in media functions.
