Startup Issues
« on: October 12, 2011, 10:15:46 am »

Setup:
- Windows Vista 32bit
- Files Playing from an Externally attached 1TB USB Drive
- MC16 (Trial Version for now)
- Bitremote (best remote so far!)

Everytime Windows starts up I get a message window with 3 possible errors:

"1. The Program is also running under a different user account"
*Vista has only one administrator account setup*

"2. Media Center 16 and Media Server are both in Windows Start-up. You must remove one."
*Neither are set to start-up within MC16, I have added the MC16 to Windows actual start-up folder in the start menu*

"3. The Program is not responding for an unknown reason"
*If I click the 'continue' option, it starts the program up - weird*

Am I receiving this error window because the program is still in Trial version?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Erik

It's not a trial version problem.  The trial is the full version, just time limited.

Check your settings for MC in Tools/Options/Startup/Run on Windows Start.

Do the same for other users on your PC.

You definitely have two start-up instances somewhere. I recommend downloading CCleaner and checking your start-up entries under Tools->Startup.

I have onced had the same problem a long time ago.

Back then it was my virus program, after an update of the virus program, mc did the same.

I deactivated the virus program, started up MC with succes, and then activated my virus program again,
and after that, no problem annymore.

Dont know, could be the same.

Ran CCleaner - disabled most or all of the startup programs from Windows and I still get the same message.  So I've resigned myself to just leaving the CPU in sleep mode when not in use, it than leaves MC16 & Bitremote running with no issues all the time.  Not the end of the world.
