I finally have the parts to finally build my new HTPC this weekend. Here's the parts I have for the build:

Silverstone GD05B mATX case
ASRock H61M/U3S3 mATX motherboard
Intel i5 2500 CPU

I'm using a spare 100GB laptop drive for the OS and the 1TB for recorded tv shows.

The i3 Clarkdale system I have "Gemini" I will move to the bedroom plus I will transplant the Ceton tuner from it to the new system.

Plan to take pics of the build....looking forward to using this and see how well it will work with RO HQ and MadVR.

Looks good, I presume Win7-64 Bit and it may go without saying (but I got caught on my recent build), don't rely on the install + update to get the up to date Chipset, LAN, Video, and Audio drivers...get the latest from the mfr web sites.  Once all running OK, I then take a snapshot (well WHS for me) so I have a baseline to reimage back to.

Looks good. Only flag that goes up for me is if the laptop drive is a 5400rpm drive I would just put a small partition on the 1tb to put the os on.

The laptop drive is 7200rpm so no bottleneck worries there.

That's what I usually do with the mobo updates, including BIOS.

I don't have WHS so I am looking into a good backup solution to my unRAID server as I already made a backup folder for the new system. I am thinking of using Paragon Backup and Recovery to image the drive once everything is installed, updated and stable.

I also used a 7200 Laptop drive for my HTPC - It is quiet, cool, and fast enough.

One other prob I did have was I used UEFI/GPT to build the OS - Boy was that a mistake as it turns out while it **may** be the future WHS (and most other b'up / restore tools) dont support UEFI/GPT.  Stick with BIOS/MBR.

Paragon makes good stuff.

Their filesystem drivers (HFS+ For Windows and NTFS for Mac OSX) are both awesome and well worth the price over flaky, slow open source alternatives.

My new system, "Jupiter II" has been built and is up and running! Working on the pics and will start a new thread a little later on the new build.
