Ripping CDs to AIFF format
« on: October 17, 2011, 03:33:12 am »

Ok, I give up, how can I rip CDs to AIFF format?  It will play AIFFs, but there is not an encoder listed, nor can I download.  Is it not supported yet?

MC doesn't encode to AIFF.  FLAC or APE are equivalent choices.

But not so equivelent.  AIFF is the only uncompressed format handling all metadata.  without metadata, archival formats are useless.

Media Center supports WAV tagging.

APE and FLAC both have full metadata (tag) support in Media Center and just about any media player.  They're a better choice than WAV or AIFF since they incorporate error detection.

Yes.  The files are lossless.
