Run as a Service -- working, but with a problem
« on: October 19, 2011, 10:32:16 pm »

I finally got MC 16 to run as a service (i.e. I don't have to log-on to my Windows 7 PC to have the computer available to be a MC library server).

The problem I have is that when I actually log-on to the PC, it encounters a problem.  An error screen comes up and says an instance of MC is already running.  Is there a way to fix this, without shutting down the service and then starting MC?

Thank you,

Paul

Running as a service is not formally supported. It works (as you've proven) and I run it on my server this way also but yes, you need to stop the service and restart mc when you need to see the GUI. I actually don't mind this and is generally not a problem for me.

I can live with this for now.  Hope it is officially supported relatively soon, however.

Regardless, I absolutely love MC.

Thanks,
