Switching from Itunes to JRiver
« on: October 24, 2011, 01:52:11 pm »

Hi,

I want to try JRiver in search of better sound than achievable using Itunes.  All music files are Apple Lossless.  Can someone provide the basic steps of switching to JRiver or a link to documentation that explains it.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.  Just download and install it:

Then visit the wiki and read this:

Thanks.  The link talks about setting up Audio output.  That's helpful but I am more interested in how to load all my music into the JRiver library.  Is it similar to Itunes where you simply point it at the folder where all the music is and it builds a database of meta-data leaving the music files where they are?

When you install, MC will search your drive for certain filetypes.  This is called import.  You can stop it and add your own configuration.

In the Tools menu, use auto-import.  Add a directory, then edit its settings to add your filetypes.
