TV recording playback pauses at start
« on: October 25, 2011, 08:00:42 pm »

I've been finding recently (MC17 builds) that when I start a playback of a TV recording sometimes playback pauses on the first frame.  The OSD shows playback ticking over but it isn't.

If I seek forward then playback continues normally after that.

Log attached.

Cheers

Is anybody else seeing this, it's happening on all my recordings and isn't making me too popular with the wife!

Does it matter whether you're using Red October HQ or not?

Please tell your wife we're very sorry.

We are just getting started with TV and only have a handful of short test recordings. Have not seen the first frame pause yet. We have imported a bunch of SageTv recordings and they seem to play okay.

Good luck - gotta get that WAF back up there!

OK, further testing gives the following somewhat interesting results.

Test 1:  Recording recorded with MC17 as PAL JTV
ROHQ - Playback pauses on first frame, skip forward then plays normally with MC17
ROSTD - Playback starts fine but I get NO audio with MC17, if I seek then audio returns.

Test 2: recording recorded by MC16, PAL JTV File
ROHQ - Plays back normally on MC17
ROSTD - Plays back normally with MC17

(Have PM'd  sample to Yaobing.)

I get the pause also. Sometimes even when I start TV, not just with recordings.

I use ROHQ, as RO Standard doesn't play TV at all for me. And never has for that matter.

I use whatever system it is we use in Australia. Sorry, I'm a bit blank today.

Yaobing has a sample PAL recording from MC27, hopfully that gives the same issue for him.

Not sure what has changed between a MC16 and MC17 recording, but I'd assume something in the header has changed maybe?

The following will appear in an upcoming build:

Fixed: Recording of certain TV channels in jtv format would not play correctly (stalled until a seek operation was performed).

Fantastic, thanks Yaobing.  My wife and kids will be very happy.
