Netflix Audio
« on: October 31, 2011, 01:01:18 pm »

Is there any way to get Netflix to honor the audio device in the zone you are in?  For me the browser defaults to the default audio device I think.

Netflix only allows playback from inside a browser, using Silverlight.  This means we have no control over the audio.

This is Netflix's choice, not ours.

New user of Netflix and was disappointed to find out that audio is not routed through MC. I realize that it is Netflix's fault, not MC's.

Last night I thought we have the new WASAPI Loopback feature http://yabb.jriver.com/interac/index.php?topic=70242.msg473534#msg473534 and perhaps that will work. So I tried it but no luck. I'm posting this just in case I did something wrong.

Can anybody say for sure that it should, or should not work with Netflix that routes it's sound through the browser?

Since we don't use a receiver all our DSP, bass management, etc is being done in MC. So unless we can get the Netflix audio routed through MC somehow it will mean we can't use it.

Thanks for any answers, ideas or suggestions.

I use the loopback function with netflix so MC can process the audio. It will not work trying to run netflix in a browser within MC, you have to be using a browser externally. I have no problems at all.

Thanks for the response, but the news is a bummer!

We do everything but housekeeping stuff in Theater View. Don't see how we could run Netflix in an external browser in Theater View. And as I said earlier we have to have MC process the audio so looks like we are dead in the water with Netflix.

It would be interesting to hear from Matt or someone else @ JR if there is any possibility that MC audio could somehow be made to handle Netflix.

Ahh, that is a bummer. Yeah, like Matt said MC doesn't touch the audio, even when Netflix is open in theater view. I just gave it another go. MC's controls did nothing, and the volume was muted (I use internal volume).
