And that's exactly the point why I don't like Frame-Packing.
It forces the user again
to buy new hardware,if you want this 3D thing.
I will surely not buy a nvidia Graphic Card or a new AV-Receiver.
My Onkyo (3000$) is 3 Years old and has a great Sound.
I don't want to change only for 3D.But I would have to,if I want 3D
and DTS-HD Master Audio at the same time,because you need HDMI 1.4.
And I think there are many People out there with the same opinion.
I have tested 3D the last weeks.
Xbox360 Games 3D-> Only SidebySide.
PS3 Games 3D ->Also SidebySide.
PC 3D Game - Crysis 2 ->SidebySide (Looked Great!!!)
Movies all SidebySide (Are looking great on my 55"/ 3D TV with Ambilight even with Half Resolution.)
And I have tested the IZ3D Driver for other Games but was disapointed.To much to Configure and no good Quality.Crysis 2 is the first and only PC Game which was programmed
for 3D.Needs no special Driver and looked really much better in SidebySide 3D Mode than other Games with IZ3D Driver.
So I think SidebySide is really more common and "Hardware Friendly".
And next Year the 4K TV's are coming.Then it's possible to watch 3D in Full HD SidebySide.
The next thing is,I don't want all my Blu-Ray's on my PC.They need to much Space.I've ripped them to mkv and mkv 3D SidebySide.That's all I need and many others too I think.
And I didn't say 3D for Standard View.No one needs this.
3D only makes sense for Theater View and Onscreen Options.
If you decide to intgrate 3D,you will have to include all 3D Modes not only Frame-Packing.
And SidebySide would be the easiest way to start with,I think.
Until now,I don't see any reason to upgrade to MC17.Nothing special about it for me,until now.
