Problems connecting new iPhone and new iPad with JRemote
« on: January 19, 2025, 03:10:50 pm »

Hello,

I have both a new iPhone 16 and a new iPad 10th Gen.  My old iPhone and iPad connected to MC 32 through JRemote with no problems.

After transferring the old devices to the new ones, I can't get JRemote to connect to MC32 with either of the new devices.

I've searched pretty extensively on the wiki and this forum, and I understand that this is often due to a firewall or router issue. However, I'm hoping that there may be a setting that can be tweaked here.  Here's a summary of the work and results:

* I reset the modem/router, the laptop that runs MC32, and repowered the iPHone and iPads
* I confirmed the iPhone and iPad are logged into the same network, and disabled data to ensure that the devices are using the network.
* My old iPad still connects fine to MC32.  It's the new iPhone and iPad that won't connect.
* I checked the Windows firewall settings for MC32 and confirmed they allow access.  I also tried disabling Windows firewall entirely as well as the firewall on the router, and still couldn't connect.
* I tried resetting the Access Key and the new access key continues to work with the old iPad, but not with either the new iPhone or iPad.
* When trying to connect using the Access Key, I continuously received a message that "Could not connect (The internet connection appears to be offline)."
* I tried activating the Port Forwarding for the iPhone on the port used by JRemote.  This resulted in one change: when trying to connect, the second message for "connecting to IP" changed from "The internet connection appears to be offline" to "Timed out." I attached a screenshot below.
* I tried connecting using the iPhone via Panel/browser, and it successfully connected to JRiver on the iPhone's browser.
* I disconnected the VPN on both the iPhone and the iPad.

Given that the old iPad is still connecting OK, my thought is that this isn't a firewall issue but more likely a setting on the new devices?  Has anyone else encountered anything similar?

Thank you for any guidance and I'm happy to provide more information.

This is the third post today about this. I wonder if Apple changed something in the latest iOS update to somehow break this.

Thank you, AwesomeDonkey.  I'll let the other posters know I have the same problem.  Hopefully if others are encountering the same issue there may be a fix, I can't get the new devices to connect.

If Media Center is running on a Mac, this is something to check and make sure it's allowed otherwise JRemote won't work: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,140447.0.html
