DVD rip fail
« on: November 20, 2011, 10:00:23 am »

Hi,

trying to rip a DVD of a TV series. First disc got hung up temporarily when the "find movie info" could not find anything. When I cancelled that step the DVD ripped fine. Second disk just freezes, even after cancelling the movie info step. Windows eventually closes MC after issuing Program Not Responding message.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Rod

I'm sorry I didn't see this when you posted.

A firewall issue?

Try manually getting the movie info.  Right click on a movie you've ripped.

Finally got this to work after upgrading to MC 17 (feel free to move this topic...). I thought maybe the new TV look up function would solve the problem. The look up failed, and I had the same freezing issue...I'm not entirely sure what I did to get it to rip finally.

But this raises a new question...why does the look up fail? When I search theTVdb.com for Cold Feet it finds the ITV series in question.

Sorry Jim, can you provide a bit more detail?

I get (incorrect) results from Rotten Tomatoes, TMDb, and correct results from Wikipedia (title and actors), but no results from theTVDb

Tried a similar look up with The Wire and got similar results (i.e., nothing from theTVDb...)

WRT the firewall question, I have to confess to naivete, but I did reset the settings for Firefox and JRiver from Auto to Allow in Norton 360, to no avail.

Thanks,
Rod
