The problem I was having with adding tracks to what was playing now was the shuffle on setting.  Apparently new to version 8 is that if shuffle is set to on, when you add a track to the current play list is adds it to the list and refshuffles the play list.  Where in past versions it just added the track to the bottom of the play list.  Frankly I think the old way made more sense.

did you look at the general settings, "behavior" you can make it add it to the end if you select that option.
