Home & Back in Theater View - I don't get it
« on: December 10, 2011, 09:02:36 pm »

By default, in Theater View, the first two top-level menu options inside Video or Audio are Home and Back. But, every time I try to select the Home option, I end up going Back because I have to go through Back in order to select Home, and Back seems to activate immediately without me having to hit Enter/Select/OK on the remote. How does anyone ever actually use the Home option?

Home is off by default (Options > Theater View).

You should only turn it on if you use a touch screen or mouse.

You're right. Sorry. I've been crashing MC a lot and my Theater View changes keep getting reset. I guess that one somehow stuck, though.

If you're using a remote, hold your finder on the left arrow button rather than just pressing it once. Then it will bypass Back and go to Home and then you'll be teleported to where you want to go! :)

Thanks for the tip. Also, it turns out the reason I got confused was that I'm using a client that has loaded a server's library. Some of the settings, like the Theater View menu layout, seem to be linked to the server and so if you set them on the client it simply gets reset. Other things, like whether to show the Home button or not, are machine-specific. And, I don't know which is which. So, the menu was getting reset but the home setting stuck.
