HELP!! Can't Get DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 PLAYBACk THROGH EXTERNAL RECIEVER USING SPDIF

i cant seem to get MC to play back the dolby digital 5.1 audio from videos. im using spdif output to an A?V reciever. i can play the videos in windows media player and cyberling power dvd 9 and it works just fine, but in MC i just get pcm stereo.
how do i get tis to work in MC16.
 im using windows 7 32-bit ?
