Adding extra fileTypes
« on: December 19, 2011, 07:38:15 pm »

I'd like to add a new file type ".hdmov"
Is this possible?

Thanks

So i tried editing the fileAssociations.xml under "Media Center 17\Data\Default Resources"

So far I've had no luck. Is there any way to do this?

Copy FileAssociations.xml to Media Center 17\Data\Custom Resources. Edit this FileAssociations.xml to add your file type to the appropriate section of <DescriptionTypes>. After restarting MC, it will appear in Options > File Types where—you can configure it as desired.

Thanks. Didn't know i could do that.

They do show up under filetypes in the option menu.
But sadly the file types are still not imported into MC.

So i'm not sure if there is still something else that needs to be done or if that it's bugged.

Its possible that they are being imported but you aren't seeing them because they are imported as data.
ie. their media type is data
try looking under documents or changing a view to include the filetype in question and not just media type = video.

Did you configure Auto-Import to include the new file type?
