Playing media on client hd, through server?
« on: January 07, 2012, 08:53:43 pm »

Im using my laptop as a client to remotely control my server PC & playing back everything on the server PC using the laptop as the remote control is working fine, but say i stick a usb stick into my laptop & play music off the laptops hardrive, i can't get it to play through the PC server

Is there a way round this?

Thanks, apart from this its been running smooth all night, very impressed

I take it this isn't possible then?

Maybe i didn't explain it well enough?

Im using my Laptop (here) to control JRiver on my PC (there), but when i put something on my Laptop's hardrive, i can only play it 'here' on the laptop, i can't play it back on 'there' (PC server)

Surely there must be a way?

Switching back to your local library would work.

Sorry could you explain further please?

If i drag a song onto 'there' it just plays 'here' on the laptop

If i go to 'there' and then go the file, and add it to play, it still only plays on 'here' (uses the laptops soundcard rather than playing back on the PC server)
