Securing media server?
« on: January 08, 2012, 07:03:08 am »

My friend downloaded an app on his phone the other day (not gizmo) where he can search for media servers & he can then connected to my server & can control playback
Basically i don't like the way he just connected to it with no password or anything, makes it seem like anyone at anytime could take control!

Is there a way i can block this?
I have a feeling its something to do with home/public/private networks in windows settings?

Or isit as simple as JRiver>Tools>Options>Media Network>Authentication?

Don't think so. I have that enabled and I can still access MC with Skifta or any other DLNA client. I don't think authentication is built into DLNA otherwise your DLNA devices would all need authentication as well. If it bothers you, don't let him on your home network.

That's correct. The authentication is only for library server.
