Hi, I try to have the latest stable version of MC17 running on my system. Lately, upgrading to 17.0.68, and later on 17.0.71, I have problems playing .mkv files. 17.0.46 is the last version that I'm sure worked without flaws, and I then reinstalled this version. No problems playing .mkv after reinstallation to 17.0.46. Any suggestions to what actions I should take?

Are you using Red October? Do you have other (non-MC) versions of the codecs installed in your system?

Yes, I'm using Red October with additional filters (FFDShow and DirectVobSub). This combination has worked until recently builds of MC.

Is there a particular reason you need those filters? The native MC handling of subtitles is supposed to be the best. Can you try it with standard and HQ Red October without additional filters first?

Thank you for your replies. I've been using FFDShow to delay the video due to a convolution process in ConvolverVST to achieve lipsync. I'll try to disable both additional filters, and run Red October std, and see what happens.

There is also a newish lip synch feature built into MC - in video options, I believe.

And of course there is also MCs Convolution which doesn't add any delay to the audio. ;)

Yes.

Options -> Video -> Advanced -> A/V Sync Correction

I think it can even use negative numbers, though I'm not sure about that.

Someone in the Convolution thread posted a nice comparison "feature chart" between MC's Convolution engine and Convolver that's pretty eye opening.

Uninstalling all codecs and running Red October std solved the issue. Runnning 17.0.75 and everything is working fine. Thanks a lot:-)
