I want to buy a new laptop. I have all my music saved on an external hard drive which i connect by USB to my old laptop and use MC17 to play my music to my hi fi using a USB  to my DAC /AMP/Speakers. How do i go about setting up a MC 17 on the new laptop without having to pay for it again? How do i ensure that when i plug in the USB hard drive with my music that the new MC17 will have all the exact same settings and information as i had previously entered for the MC17 on my old laptop? I will also copy and save all the cover art from my old laptop file onto the new laptop. What i want to avoid is having to re do all information changes i made in my old MC17 to things like track names or track numbers or artist names etc..............because that will be a very time consuming to do all over again

So in summary....... 1. How to get my MC17 onto another laptop ....and then....2. How do i ensure the new MC17 on the new laptop will keep all the information adjustments i entered onto the MC17 on my old lap to avoid re-doing them all over again on my new laptop's MC17?

You just install MC and do a restore.  See the "purchase" link above for details.

To move your data, you can do a backup in your old setup and restore it to the new one IF you drive letter is the same.

There is a wiki topic called "Moving Files".
