BUG: Bit depth tag is misinterpreted

Some of my audio files wrongfully show a bit depth of 64 in MC even though they are just 16... :-\

What type of file?

Also, if it's a lossy format, you might look at this:

They are lossy .m4a files.

It might be better to report the bitdepth as 16 in these cases, since it's likely the source was 16bit.

But like the link above says, there's no true bitdepth.  And it's a good thing that Media Center uses 64bits of precision in these cases.

So... MC doesn't show the actual file properties but rather its own preferred interpretation of them?

There's no "actual" bitdepth of a lossy file.
